Today I wanted a relaxing outdoor activity to do with Kora. My mom suggested we take her outside to pick flowers and then come back inside to arrange the flowers in a vase. What a great idea. Thanks Nannie!
Nannie gathered up some gloves for Kora to wear (who knew they made work gloves in such small sizes?), a pan to set the cut flowers in, and a pair of shears. We hopped in the John Deere Gator and headed out in search of flowers.
We stopped to pick some little yellow flowers. Although the flowers could easily be picked with her fingers Kora knew we had scissors and she wanted to use them. As you can tell by the way she’s trying to cut with the handles, she needs some practice with scissors!
As we were collecting the flowers I hear an unusual sound. When I turn around I see a small herd of calves coming over to look for food!
We made a few more stops to pick a variety of flowers. Kora didn’t want to pick the sunflowers because of the little thorns, but she directed me on which flowers to pick.
Once we got back to the house Kora and Nannie arranged their flowers into their own vase. Kora was more interested in the sunflower’s petals than in flower arranging.
Nannie gave Kora a small dish of water and Kora plucked each petal off and floated them in the water.
Picking flowers was a great way to spend our morning. Not only did it get us outside enjoying nature but it also gave us a beautiful centerpiece for the table!
